Home of the USA Spirit National Champion
Esperanza H.S. Cheer & Song team.
Varsity Cheer is the defending west
coast USA Spirit Nationals Champions in the Small Varsity Show Cheer Advanced division for the 7th consecutive
season (effective 3/25/07 for the 2006-2007 season.) JV Cheer recaptured their USA
Spirit Nationals Championship as well and both cheer squads recaptured their King of the Bleachers National
Championship titles after taking the year off in 2006.
All four squads work
hard to cheer on our Varsity and JV sports teams, make you proud and hope to continue our winning ways. Yes,
we have 4 squads. Our Varsity Song squad was the west coast USA Spirit Nationals
Champions in the Large Varsity Song /Pom Advanced division for the 2005- 2006 season and is the 3 time defending King of the
Bleachers National Champions.
We had so much talent in the Song clinic
and try-outs in early May 2006, that the coaches decided to add a JV Song squad to our program for the first
time. The quality and dancing skills of these JV Songleaders did not disappoint the coaching
staff and they performed and competed in the Advanced Division at the high level that we have come to expect of the Esperanza
H.S. Cheer & Song program, winning eight 1st place titles, including two Nationals and two
State Championships.
The following pages provide information
for our team members, recognize our sponsors, and provide a glimpse into who we are and what we do. We have fun, and
win championships!
Congratulations to all four squads
for an excellent showing and display of good sportsmanship at the March 23-25th 2007 USA Spirit Nationals.
We are very proud of your accomplishments this year. Go Aztecs!

notice! Look for the new squad photos on June 15th on the squad pages.
Thanks again for getting everyone to the photo shoot for the Football program

3) JV & Varsity Song clinic / try-outs were held the first week
in May (April 30 - May 4th), The new 2007-2008 Varsity Song squad and the JV Song squad were selected
after the final tryouts Friday night in the dance studio. Congratulations to all the dancers / songleaders who gave
it their best. The new squad members are listed on the Varsity Song Roster and JV Song Roster pages respectively, designated
with 2007-2008, below the 2006-2007 roster that is still up since the balance of the website reflects our championship
squads from the 2006 - 07 season.
A big shout out to Varsity Songleaders, Sarah Chapman and Patricia
Pace who have been named Co-Captains for the 2007-2008 season by their fellow Varsity
Songleaders. Congratulations Ladies! To jump to the Varsity Song Roster page, Click Here. The other squads do not select their captains until they return from
the three week summer vacation during registration week.
JV & Varsity Cheer clinic / try-outs were held the following week (Tues. May 8
- 10th). Due to the Men's Volleyball team CIF game on May 11th, the final tryouts in
the gym took place on Thursday from 5 PM to 7:30 PM rather than Friday afternoon. Congratulations to
all the cheerleaders who gave it their best. The new squad members are listed on the Varsity Cheer Roster and JV Cheer
Roster pages respectively, designated with 2007-2008, below the 2006-2007 roster that is still posted to reflect
the achievements of this past season just completed with our banquet on April 22nd.
4) *Your
CLEARANCE PACKAGE was due on June 8th - Since we are a full year, four season program, the
students on the new 2007 - 08 team, need to have another repeat clearance packet submitted again for the new season to the Athletic Secretary, Mrs. Colleen Hayashi at
the student Finance office by June 8th. Marsha noted May 23rd that
the Finance office will not accept the clearance packages from new students until the end of this school year. Therefore, incoming Freshmen parents are to prepare the repeat clearance packet and wait for instructions on where to turn in these forms.
Stay tuned and Marsha will tell new Freshmen where to turn them in. Mrs. Hayashi will
not be available to review the new incoming Freshmen Clearance Packages until June 25th. However,
you may ask Marsha Pace to review them with you to make sure they are complete.
Please note, the salmon-colored form "CIF
Code of Ethics & Eligibility Rules for Athletes" is a 2 -sided form and both
parent and student athlete signatures, dated are required on both sides.
Mrs. Hayashi is
listed on the main EHS website in Administration as Student Accounts, 779-7870 ext. 3221.
Stacy discussed the
details and provided another packet of forms in the yellow folder at the new team parent
meeting on Monday, May 14th starting in the EHS Theater. Returning team members need to have
their revised physicals / medical clearances submittted to Mrs. Hayashi in that clearance packet by June 8th.
Sounds redundant and confusing but it is mainly due to when the current school year ends and the new school year begins
for sports. Just follow the directions that Stacy provided to the new team and make sure to complete the clearance package
with the 8 -10 forms to the satisfaction of the Athletic Secretary, Mrs. Hayashi.
If you need an additional copy of the School Driver Registration Form because you drive two different cars or your spouse
may dirve occasionally, you may list both cars on the form, or photo copy the ivory form and submit both, or pick
up a different version of this form from Mrs. Dunn in the Front Office at EHS and summit both forms.
5) Now 7 year Past President, Karen Aguilera
shares this message with our readers,
many of whom are past EHS Cheer and Song Leaders and their parents.
We are pleased to announce that the winner of the C & S Booster Club
Scholarship Fund for the 2006-2007 season is Monica True who will use the prize to help offset the cost
of her freshman year at San Diego State. The committee consisting of the JV Song and JV Cheer squad reps (4 mothers)
did a diligent job of evaluating the applicants using the criteria that has been established for this scholarship, that nets
down to a numerical assessment. Melody B. reported that the selection committee had a very tough choice as the results
were very close. Congratulations to Monica and the other three applicants, all of whom are scholar
athletes, and all of whom celebrated four years in our program: Leanne Aguilera, Jennifer King, and
Kristen McLaughlin. These young ladies are all winners in our book!
6)
Year-end Banquet April 22nd at the YLCC: Next time you see Marcy
True and Sharlene Shubin, who organized the evening's arrangements with the YL CC, please take the
time to say Thank You. Sharlene picked up all those trophies on Friday from Stacy's room and transported them over to
the banquet room to set them up at noon on Sunday. They designed, assembled and mailed out the invitations and
Marcy handled the RSVPs, as well as the money. They selected a delicious buffet dinner menu. To
see our JV Song squad in front of Sharlene's trophy display, click here. Scroll down and look for 9 young ladies with Coach Kerry in party dresses standing in front of
a silver draped trophy display. Thank you Toni Nelson for sharing your photos.
The year-end video was premiered
at the year-end banquet. Thank you to all the photographers and videographers who contributed material!
And, a big round of applause to Karen and especially Brian
for a wonderful piece of work - a pictorial / video account of a record year.
To read more about getting involved
in the year end video production for next season see the News Release section go to the Year End Video near the bottom of the News Releases on the 2006 - 2007 Competition Results page.
Brian & Corrine, Karen, & Ed are "graduating" with their daughters in June. I don't think we can
pay Brian enough to do this again after three seasons of helping Karen, so we need a couple
of interested parents who understand video editing or want to learn, to step up and help edit material next year.
Organized photo material is half the battle, so keep those pictures coming in. If you can provide
the "Data Disk" option to port your digital video segments to us, that saves enormous capture time and sorting through
video material to understand what you think is important, good footage. "Make Data Disk" is on the menu of Nero software
in the same task area as "Copy Disk."
The placemats - one of Karen's innovations to provide memorabilia
for the girls, has been a very nice surprise for the individual squads for several "Karen" years now.
The Varsity Song and JV Song squad reps made their respective placemats and Karen Aguilera made both the Varsity
& JV Cheer placemats. That task will become the responsibility of the Cheer squad reps.
The very professional looking programs were designed
and made by Toni Nelson.
The YLCC dress policy was taken literally and all the girls were beautiful in
their party dresses and heels. What a sight! Can't wait to see the pictures.
The invitations signaled a theme of back to tradition, Cardinal,
Gold, White. Marcy and Sharlene and their committee organized
an elegant evening dinner party to "Celebrate our Champions!"
As Stacy told the parents and students at the April 19th Information Meeting, this was a banner year, the most wins she
has ever experienced in 16 years of coaching. The banquet was a perfect capper to a great year! Go Aztecs!
7) 2006
- 2007 Season Results are posted as of 3-31-07. With the competition season
over, the Results page has been renamed 2006 - 07 Competition Results Congratulations to all four squads.
All these young women have
earned jackets and / or, backpacks this season, as well as the banners to hang in their dance studio, and trophies
that Stacy's Language Arts students look at in wonder as this season's trophy booty has grown like weeds, occupying
every spare countertop space by the window, blocking what little sunshine cascades into her room.
The Archive page is combined on the LINKS page where
our viewers can see our team's extensive awards and results back to the 2002- 2003 season. Head
coach Stacy Shube provided these past results and in the interests of brevity, she left out some of the qualifying Regional
competitions for eligibility for the US Spiritleader's King of the Bleachers National Championship, and USA
Spirit Nationals.
Past Booster Club President,
Karen Aguilera is searching for the Lomeli Photography official team photos that will be added to this
page and you will be able to see the cheer & songleaders who racked up these awards each year.
Stacy has more records in her files for the seasons leading up to 2002, that we can add easily whenever they surface. Our privacy policy does not permit the identification of a specific
cheer or songleader in photographs, present or past.
8) To Head Coach, Stacy and her coaching staff: Rich, Margaret, Stephanie,
Sabrina, and Kerry, thanks for working with the squads and for the terrific choreography this
past 2006-07 competition season. The squads results
as reported in the "News Releases" at the bottom of the Results page tell the story, winning First Place in almost all events entered
in all 10 competition venues. The Southern Cal Holiday Classic event was held at the
Anaheim Convention Center which is the same venue where the Nationals were held in March so
this was a good and exciting experience for the 25 new girls in the program this year.
Don't forget to check out the pictures that are posted in the Picture Gallery.
