Home of the USA Spirit National Champion
Esperanza H.S. Cheer & Song team.
Varsity Cheer is the defending west
coast USA Spirit Nationals Champions in the Small Varsity Show Cheer Advanced division for the record
breaking 8th consecutive season (effective 3/9/08 for the 2007-2008 season.) They also successfully
defended their US Spiritleaders King of the Bleachers National Championship title again.
On March 9, 2008, our Varsity Song
squad regained their west coast USA Spirit Nationals Champions in the Large Varsity
Song /Pom Advanced division for the 2007- 2008 season and is the 4 time defending
King of the Bleachers National Champions in Large Varsity Song Pom. Their Varsity Jazz
routine is outstanding and they were named Grand Champions for their Varsity Pom Dance "Batman" routine
at the Spirit Club International competition held at Universal City Walk, with the highest score in
the Pom Dance category for all teams competing in Dance. The Varsity Song and the
JV Song squads went undefeated this season in their Song Pom and Pom Dance Advanced divisions.
All four squads work
hard to cheer on and support our Varsity and JV sports teams, make you proud and hope to continue our winning ways. In their second season our
JV Song squad performed and competed in the Advanced Division at the high level
that we have come to expect of the Esperanza H.S. Cheer & Song program successfully defending their US Spiritleaders
King of the Bleachers National championship title, as well as the two State Championships from Cheer
Pros and Spirit Club International, Inc.
JV Cheer were uncontested
in defending their USA Spirit Nationals Championship title. They also successfully defended
their two State Championships from Cheer Pros and Spirit Club International, Inc.
The following pages provide information
for our team members, recognize our sponsors, and provide a glimpse into who we are and what we do. We have fun, give
back to the school and community, and if we are the best team on any given day, we win championships!
Congratulations to all four squads
for an excellent showing and display of good sportsmanship at the March 7 - 9th 2008 USA Spirit Nationals.
We are very proud of your accomplishments this season. Go Aztecs!

1) ***Friday, May
2nd, 2008. The Cheer squads for the next season Try-out
was completed tonight in the gymnasium. Combined with the results of the Song squad selections from April 25th
last week, our 2008-2009 Cheer and Song team is now complete. The
new Rosters are now posted on their respective Roster pages.
For the future class of 2013 and beyond who may be reading
this, the clinic try-out week is described in the FAQ on the Contact Us webpage. It provides an overview of what Stacy described during the April 15th
parent meeting in the EHS Library.
Current
team members (2007-2008 season) who made the new team are still covered by last year's medical release
/ clearance as they are in effect for one year. However, the PYLUSD clearance
for the 2008-2009 season will need to be completed (another identical medical release package) in
May or early June at a time TBA by Stacy to the new team members. Returning team members
will need to have their physicals done to complete this packet. Remember new team parents, you
have to complete the exact same release forms for the next season clearance which is based on the academic year
end. (Ms. Hiyashi typically leaves on vacation by June 15th and these second set of clearance forms need
to be approved by her before then.)
2) ***Saturday, April 19th @ 9:30 AM. The Esperanza
Cheer & Song Program is a 2008 Honoree for the YL Athletic
Achievement Recogition Wall @ the Thomas Lasorda, Jr. Field House.
Our 4 squads performed 3 or 4 sideline
cheers in the gymnasium, as
the audience climbed the bleachers to await the presentation ceremony. Most of our 51 grils attended and looked like
a team, dressed in their Broadway halter tops and burgundy skirts with their competition jackets. Former Mayor and
our State Assemblyman, Mike Duvall thanked Stacy for having the Esperanza cheer and song squad kick off the
ceremony with their sideline cheers. Mayor Pro Tem Jan Horton MC'd the event. She listed the Varsity Cheer
squad USA Nationals titles back to 1994 and the Varsity Song USA Nationals titles back to 1998 and cited that all four squads
won their USA Spirit Nationals this season. All the inductees received a certfiicate of recognition as well as a city pin.
Stacy received Athletic Acheievement Recognition certificates on behalf of the C & S program from the State
Senate, our Assemblyman Mike Duvall, and the Mayor and City Council of Yorba Linda, .
Following the Presentation
& ceremony we all moved outside by the Athletic Achievement Recognition Wall where new bronze name plates were
unveiled on the Wall and the six inductees were announced. Photos were taken with each of the six Inductees
beside the Wall.
A picture of the Athletic Achievement Wall bronze name plate is
below. There is another photo from Leah B. that is posted on the top of the "LINKs" page (group photo around the Recognition Wall.) A third picture of the team in the gym after the presentation
ceremony, is posted on the Picture Gallery. (LB is behind the tree support. If anyone has a photo that is taken without the tree on the right, please
send via email. Thank you.)
